2. Information We Collect
We follow a principle of data minimisation and collect only the information strictly necessary to provide and improve our services. The specific data collected varies by application and the features you choose to use.
Information you provide voluntarily:
Depending on the application and features used, you may provide text input, queries, or messages entered into the application, voice recordings captured via microphone for voice-to-text features, photos or images captured via camera for image recognition or product scanning features, preferences, settings, dietary choices, and configurations you choose within the app, and feedback or support messages you send to us.
Information collected automatically:
When you use our applications, the following may be collected automatically: device type, manufacturer, model, and operating system version, application version and build number, crash reports and error diagnostic data via Google Play Services, non-personal aggregated usage statistics, and in-app purchase or subscription transaction identifiers processed by Google Play.
Information we do NOT collect:
We explicitly do not collect full name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifier unless you voluntarily enter it within the app for your own use. We do not collect precise or approximate GPS location data, contact lists, call logs, or messaging data, financial or payment card information (all billing is handled by Google Play), data from other applications installed on your device, advertising identifiers (we do not serve advertisements), or biometric data of any kind.

3. Device Permissions
Our applications may request the following Android permissions. Each permission is requested only when required by the specific feature it enables. You may revoke any permission at any time via Android Settings.
Camera: Used solely for capturing images as input to in-app features such as halal product label scanning, text recognition, or ingredient identification. Images are processed on-device or transmitted only as extracted data. No raw images are stored on our servers.
Microphone: Used solely for voice input features such as voice-guided cooking or voice-to-text entry. Audio is converted to text on-device using Android's built-in Speech Recognition. Raw audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted to our servers.
Storage (Read/Write): Used solely to allow you to save or export files generated within the application, such as recipe PDFs or exported documents. We do not access, read, or scan files beyond those you explicitly interact with in the app.
Internet Access: Required for applications that communicate with backend servers for AI features, content updates, subscription verification, or other online functionality. All communications are encrypted using HTTPS with TLS.
Network State: Used to check for internet connectivity before attempting network operations, providing a better user experience.
Vibration: Used to provide haptic feedback in response to user interactions. This permission does not access any personal data.

4. How We Use Information
Information we collect is used exclusively for providing and operating the features and functionality of the application, processing and responding to queries sent to AI or backend services, identifying and fixing crashes, bugs, and performance issues, improving application features based on aggregated non-personal usage patterns, verifying and managing in-app purchases and subscriptions, delivering app updates and checking version compatibility, and complying with applicable laws and legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or the training of AI models. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with any third party for commercial purposes.

5. AI Features and Backend Processing
Some of our applications, including Halal Chef, include AI-powered features that communicate with backend servers. Where this applies, the following practices govern how your data is handled.
Your query text and limited conversation context are transmitted to our backend server over HTTPS. Our backend server processes and forwards your query to an AI provider (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google) using our own API credentials. Your device never communicates with the AI provider directly. Responses are returned to your device and not retained on our servers beyond the duration of the request. All requests are authenticated to prevent unauthorised access. AI providers we use operate under their own privacy policies and data handling practices.
We do not use your queries to train AI models, and we instruct our AI providers not to use submitted data for model training where such controls are available.

6. Local Data Storage
Our applications store data locally on your device using Android's standard storage mechanisms. This may include your app preferences and settings, dietary preferences, recipe history, and nutrition logs, pantry items, meal plans, and saved recipes, cached content for offline access, and subscription status flags stored in encrypted device storage.
Locally stored data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless required for a specific feature you initiate. Sensitive data such as subscription status is stored using Android EncryptedSharedPreferences for tamper protection. You can delete locally stored data at any time by using the "Clear Data" or "Clear All Data" options within the app's Settings, by clearing the application's data via Android Settings, or by uninstalling the application.
________________________________________
7. In-App Purchases, Subscriptions, and Billing
Some of our applications, including Halal Chef, offer paid features through Google Play's In-App Billing system. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play. We never receive, process, or store your payment card information. Purchase and subscription records are managed by Google Play and subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Upon successful purchase, your subscription status is stored locally on your device in encrypted storage. Subscription status is periodically verified with Google Play to ensure accuracy. Purchase status can be restored on any device linked to the same Google account. Refunds are handled through Google Play's standard refund policies. Subscription cancellation can be done at any time through the Google Play Store app.

8. Third-Party Services
Our applications may integrate with the following third-party services, each operating under its own privacy policy.
Google Play Services is used for app distribution, billing, subscription management, crash reports, and diagnostics. Purchase records and diagnostic data may be shared. See policies.google.com for details.
Google ML Kit is used for on-device text recognition and image processing. No data is shared as processing happens entirely on the device. See policies.google.com for details.
Android Speech API is used for on-device voice-to-text conversion. No data is shared as processing happens entirely on the device. See policies.google.com for details.
AI Providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) are used for AI language model responses in features like recipe generation, halal verification, and nutrition coaching. Anonymised query text is shared via our backend server. See each provider's privacy policy for details.
Not all services listed above are used by every application. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.

9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. All network communications use HTTPS with TLS encryption. API keys, secrets, and credentials are stored server-side only and never embedded in application code. Backend servers use authenticated requests to prevent unauthorised access. Android Network Security Configuration enforces HTTPS-only connections at the operating system level. Subscription and sensitive preference data is stored using EncryptedSharedPreferences with AES-256 encryption. Backend rate limiting prevents abuse and protects service availability. Access to server infrastructure is restricted to authorised personnel only. Application code is protected with R8 code shrinking and obfuscation.
Despite these measures, no system is completely immune to security risks. We cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

10. Children's Privacy
We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. Our applications are designed as productivity, educational, and utility tools suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction. Our applications do not require registration, login, or the provision of personal information to access core functionality. We do not display behavioural advertising.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through one of our applications, please contact us immediately using the details in Section 17. We will take prompt steps to delete such information.
Our applications comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including its provisions for minors, and Google Play's Families Policy where applicable.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 17. We will respond within 30 days.
________________________________________
12. Data Retention
We retain data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy. Locally stored app data including history, preferences, and cache is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app. AI query text transmitted to our server is not retained after the response is delivered. Crash reports and diagnostics are retained by Google Play Services per Google's retention policies. Purchase and subscription records are retained by Google Play per their policies. Support communications are retained for up to 2 years or until you request deletion.
________________________________________
13. International Data Transfers
Our applications may transmit data to servers located in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States. These transfers are necessary to provide the services you use. We ensure such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws through TLS/HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, contractual safeguards with service providers including Standard Contractual Clauses where required by GDPR, and selecting service providers that maintain adequate data protection standards.
